The Science of Breathing

There is nothing more essential to our health and wellbeing than breathing. In this workshop, you will explore classical pranayama (yoga breathing methods) with an emphasis on linking breath to simple movements in the body. We will watch, discuss and feel our way to learning some key concepts about the anatomy and physiology of the breath and use research findings to highlight the impact of paying attention to your breathing daily.

What will you leave with?

You will learn simple, but powerful practices and apply at home or in the yoga studio. Leave feeling re-energised, with a better understanding of the benefits of breathing practice for your physical and mental health.

About your teacher..

Emily’s yoga teaching is grounded in the anchor of breath, both as a tool to concentrate and clear the mind of thoughts, so any yoga practice can be a mind-full experience. She has published research on breathing and anxiety and calls on the learning form this work daily. Emily facilitates minds and bodies from a wealth of teaching, psychological research and yoga experience with a long list of yoga and academic qualifications that, combined, allow her to hold the space for all levels of learners.

What should I bring?

Bring a open mind, a drink and a come with a somewhat empty stomach. All other equipment will be provided by the studio.
