The Journey to Backbends
3rd November 2024 | 13:00 - 15:00 | Location: Mula Yoga Studio
This is a workshop for both those who are relatively new to backbending in their Yoga practice and want to build a solid foundation in this area & also those not so new but wanting to explore these postures in a little more depth.
In this workshop; you will experience a playful movement practice combining flow with mobility & flexibility drills. We will explore the foundations and mechanics of cobra, bow and wheel variations and how you can adapt them to suit the needs of your body. We will be using plenty of props as tools to help engage the muscles we are working to make pose progression attainable.
Backbends require a brave heart and self-trust, they create moments in the practise that offer us the opportunity to learn to move through uncertainty with courage and grace, on or off our mats. They are a family of postures that require a lot of patience, integrity and balance, but when they start to feel even and integrated, they are a wonderful tonic for the mind, body and soul.
Our aim for this workshop is that you leave with a greater insight into the anatomy of backbends and feeling more open hearted, and less fearful whenever the word ‘backbend’ is mentioned in a class!
Bring an open mind, a courageous heart, and a readiness to play and work hard, with a desire to bring the great teachings of yoga directly into your life. Also bring a drink 🙂
